Herman fishes the pattern on an intermediate line with an 8-12 foot leader depending on water clarity. On a floating line a longer leader set up of 12-15 foot. Ideal for fishing over reed beds or edge of reed beds.
Attaching the fly to the tippet with a loop knot is vital for movement.
Suggested retrieve is a varied figure of 8 retrieve, slow and faster action mixing it up.
Other retrieve option is long slow, steady retrieve with varying pause lengths. Often the fly is chomped on the pause.
