In 16th century Japan, legendary Samurai daimyo Mōri Motonari - The Beggar Prince - gave each of his sons an arrow and instructed them to snap the arrows in half. They complied, snapping the arrows with ease. The samurai then took three more arrows from his quiver, tied them together with straw, and handed them to his sons with the same instruction. Bound in this way, Motonari's sons could not break the arrows anymore. They fought together since that day and could not be beaten in their conquests. From humble beginnings, the Mōri Clan went on to control the entire Chūgoku region of Japan.... or so the legend goes.
